Jon has worked with ExcelScient on a number of projects, including mathematical calculation of an engineering prototype, which required intricate numerical analysis.
Jon studied Physics at the University of Bath, gaining a first class honours degree in Physics with Computing in 2001, during which he undertook research for a year at CERN.
After graduating, Jon was recruited by Rexam (now Amcor Ltd) to undertake simulation for the pharmaceutical industry. The role involved technical Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations, in support of a design team of polymer physicists. As a secondary aspect, Jon undertook practical testing of customer products resulting from his simulation work.
In 2004, Jon became a consultant with Headway Consultancy Ltd, working primarily with the European Space Agency (ESA). He was responsible for the development of simulation methods to be implemented within ESA, as well as contributing to the set up of a new portability standard for spacecraft simulation. Jon applied the prevalent Universal Serial Bus (USB) to the simulation of various military-standard spacecraft communication buses.
Jon went on to become the Scientific Officer in the School of Mathematics at the University of Sheffield in September 2006. He was required to support all academic staff in the area of mathematical and physical simulation. The role included responsibility for data security, hardware troubleshooting and general system administration. Jon project managed the full specification, procurement and set up of a large Linux server for the School of Mathematics.
Through his varied consultancy work, Jon has gained comprehensive experience in the full life cycle of complex computing and simulation projects. He is a specialist in C programming, Linux systems and is an expert in simulation requiring computational analysis of physical and mathematical concepts.
Outside of work, Jon has a personal passion for all sport and presently plays hockey in the English Hockey League (EHL) National League.
