Applied Research Manager (Oxfordshire)

As part of the Technical team, lead a team of scientists to investigate and deliver a diverse range of projects for chemical vapour deposition developments and application areas for a variety of materials and products.

Duties will include:

  • To work on multiple development topics and projects as required.
  • To lead projects with a chemistry and surface analysis bias, taking responsibility for successful completion.
  • To work to project plans and inform line manager at earliest opportunity if project progress is not to plan.
  • To maintain comprehensive and accurate records of all work in formats requested.
  • To produce project progress reports as requested.
  • To attend and contribute to meetings as required

The ideal candidate will have:

  • PhD or good first Degree in a Science or Engineering subject.
  • Experience in chemistry or a materials science is desirable.
  • Experience gained within an ISO9001 environment is advantageous.
  • Ability to lead a project team or work alone.
  • Have a proven track record in working to tight commercial deadlines
  • Excellent project management and communication skills
  • Able to assimilate and disseminate technical information in timely manner.
  • Self motivated, energetic and able to drive pace
  • Ability in building relationships and communicating at all levels
  • Passionate about developing new technologies with a firm focus on commercialisation and implementation
  • Team player, and able to work on own initiative.
  • Professional and positive outlook
