>> Careers Education

ExcelScient understands the importance of educating young scientists in their career possibilities.

While medics and engineers have fairly well prescribed career paths, that is not true for physicists and mathematicians (or physematicians), who often quickly get hired from universities into roles listed under “engineer”.   Since these workers quickly become “invisible” in the world of work, it is imperative to inform young scientists early in their careers as to their options.

ExcelScient provides career guidance talks for groups between ages of 14-30.

Good career guidance in maths and physics will enable pupils and students to:

  1. decide on possible career paths
  2. choose the right courses and modules early
  3. enhance the appropriate skills
  4. understand what a scientist does

ExcelScient can arrange careers talks for scientists in schools or universities:

  • Where can mathematicians and physicists work?
  • What jobs can a physicist or mathematician do?
  • What qualifications are needed for certain jobs?

If you are arranging a careers event and are looking for a scientific speaker, contact ExcelScient and see how we can provide an advisor.
