As new assessment criteria will heavily address the impact of research’s ability “to deliver demonstrable benefits to the economy, society, public policy, culture and quality of life”, researchers in less industrially-related fields have two choices: to address this issue and identify possible links with commercial applications, or to challenge the assessment criteria.
